粘液虫は、主に魚に感染する微細な寄生虫のユニークなグループです。 これらの極度に減少した刺胞動物は非常に多様性があり、淡水と海洋の生息地に世界中に分布しています。 粘液虫類の多様性の側面は、並外れた生物学的多様性の領土であるメキシコでは知られていません。 この研究は、メキシコの新熱帯地域の魚類に生息する粘液虫の寄生虫の多様性を初めて調査することを目的としました。 我々は、ベラクルス、オアハカ、チアパスのさまざまな産地から捕獲された22種の観賞用および食用の魚の宿主組織を使用して、大規模な形態学的および分子的スクリーニングを実施した。 魚類の90%で粘虫感染が検出され、そのうち65%が1種または2種、35%が3種から最大8種の粘虫虫を感染していた。 SSU rDNA 系統解析を使用して、41 の推定新種が同定されました。これらは、多毛類に感染する粘液動物 (5 種) と少毛類に感染する粘液虫 (36 種) の 2 つの主要な系統に属します。 これらのうち、4 つの新種を記載します: Myxidium zapotecus sp. n.、Zschokkella guelaguetza sp. n.、Ellipsomyxa papantla sp. n. およびMyxobolus zoqueus sp. n. 粘液虫の検出は、分子スクリーニングを使用すると最大 6 倍増加しました。これは、顕微鏡検査よりも 3.7 倍多くの種が検出されたことになります。 この研究は、メキシコの新熱帯魚が多数の粘液虫の宿主であり、経済的および保全上の理由に大きな影響を与える新たな病気の発生源であることを実証しました。
粘液虫は、海洋および淡水の生息地に世界中に分布している微細な刺胞動物です。 これらの胞子形成寄生虫は、自由生活性の刺胞動物の近縁種と比較すると、サイズと形態が大幅に縮小しています。 粘液虫類は複雑な生活環を持ち、無脊椎動物の最終宿主として環形動物とコケムシが関与し、脊椎動物の中間宿主として主に魚類が関与します。 どちらの宿主でも、水媒介性の感染性胞子が形成されます。 無脊椎動物宿主の放線胞子と脊椎動物宿主の粘液胞子。 これらの寄生虫は、水産養殖や野生の魚類に病気を引き起こすことで特によく知られています1。
粘液虫類は非常に多様なグループで、2,400 種を超える種があり、刺胞動物門の約 5 分の 1 を占めています 2,3。 しかし、粘液虫類の生物多様性は依然として不明であり、特に特定の地理的地域では過小評価されている可能性が非常に高くなります4。 メキシコ南部は、いわゆるメソアメリカの生物多様性ホットスポットに含まれており、そこには固有種が高濃度に生息し、生息地の例外的な減少を経験している地域が含まれます5。 粘液虫は、特にメキシコの魚類寄生虫研究において長い伝統を持つ他の寄生虫グループと比較すると、メキシコでは研究が進んでいないグループであると考えられています6,7。 これまでのところ、メキシコでは6種の変形虫のみが報告されており、そのうち3種は海洋生息地からのもの、すなわちクドア・ディアナエ・ディコヴァ、ファジェル・アビラとフィアラ、2002年、ミクソボルス・メキシコナス・ヨシノ&ノーブル、1973年、ミキシジウム・コリファエノイディウム・ノーブル、1966年、そして淡水生息地からの3種である。即ち、Myxobolus nuevoleonensis Salinas, Jiménez-Guzmán, Galaviz-Silva & Ramírez-Bon, 1991、Myxobolus cartilaginis Hoffman, Putz & Dunbar, 1965、Henneguya exilis Kudo, 19298,9,10,11,12,13,14。 これらのうち、入手可能な分子データを持っているのは K. dianae と M. coryphaenoidium のみです 13,15。 さらに、ティラピアの粘液虫感染エピソードがメキシコで報告されましたが、原因物質の種は特定されていません16。
